June 18, 2011 Positive Music and Arts Festival
This event is open to FRIENDS of mine and friends of the other musicians only as well as my church friends from all the churches I visit and sing for and my face book friends and the face book friends of my friends and fellow musicians. BUT, not open to the public. Oh, I forgot, also open to my neighbors who so kindly support this even.
Picnic food and drinks will be available or you may bring your own picnic.
Safari Bingo and her giant bubbles will be there for the kids of all ages.
Two years ago Barrel Oak Winery had wine for sale but not this year. However, since the festival does not start until 12:00 and the winery is open at 11:00 and is only 2 miles down Grove Lane, may I suggest that you purchase your wine there, if that is your drink of choice. Brian is graciously offered a 20% discount for people attending the festival. (Buy your wrist bands soon so I can mail them to you to show you are coming.) Also, just so you know, BOW donates a portion of all their sales to charity. Then on your way down Ramey Rd., you might want to stop into Full Moon Alpaca Farm. The owner, John, will show you around. Most of the alpaca are shy but a couple will let you pet them. They are fun to look at and John has some fine gifts made from their wool. I know it’s hot now but an alpaca scarf feels so good when it’s cold.
Now let us discuss the cost of the event. I am asking $20 or more generous Love Offering to defray the cost of the festival. The tents and chairs alone were $2000 and I would like to pay gas money to all many performers. I am paying a small honorarium to the headliner that is performing way below his usual fee, and traveling from LA. I would love to pay him closer to what he deserves. Extra donations will go to the performers. That said, these are tough times and I will not turn away anyone because of money. Come and perhaps you can help fold up the chairs after or help in some other way. Perhaps bring your favorite side dish or desert. If on the other hand you would like to contribute more to this festival, there will be a place to donate money for next year’s festival. Remember, I need to collect $1200 just to pay the county fee next year. Hummmmm, pause, relax, breathe. I would so much rather give that $1200 to the musicians. But “Render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s.”
If you would like to volunteer, please email me at jeff@stillwater-studios.com with “volunteer” in the subject line and I will find a place for you. Please do so soon as I am ordering tee shirts for the volunteers so you can tell who they are. If you have more questions, email me at the above address and I will answer your question and post the answer here for others as well. Thanks, and I look forward to seeing you.
